California Split Up California is known for its beaches and beautiful weather, however, not everyone loves the political climate of the Golden State. On January 15th, a campaign began to create a state called New California by splitting California into two separate states. This is not like the dope smoking, ragged out, old hippy protests of Calexit fame that followed Trump's election. Unlike other separation movements in the past, the state of New California wants to do things by the book, citing Article 4, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution and working with the state legislature to get it done. This is based on the same constitutionally approved method that West Virginia used when it broke away from Virginia. The group is organized with committees and a council of county representatives, but says it will take 10 to 18 months before they are ready to fully engage with the state legislature. The state of New California would incorporate most of the state's rural counties, leaving the urban coastal counties to the current state of California. "it's been ungovernable for a long time. High taxes, second rate education, you name it, and we're rated around 48th or 50th from a business climate and standpoint in California," said founder Robert Paul Preston. >>>Here are six things that could happen if New California becomes a state.<<< 1. Two new Republican Senate seats could be added. “New California” would encompass the state’s rural counties that feel lost among the left coast’s liberalism. With the addition of a new state, two new Senate seats would have to be added. And given the demographics of the new state, it’s likely these senators would be Republicans. 2. Old California would lose some of its House seats. Since seats in the House of Representatives are allocated based on population, dividing California in two would cause would cause old California to have less sway in the House. Advocates for New California say that it would have 25-27 seats in the House. California currently has 53 seats in the House. 3. New California would be the sixth largest state. According to the New California movement’s website, the proposed area would have a population of about 15 million, making it the sixth largest state after New York. Old California would be the second largest state with a population of 25 million. 4. The new state would probably have lower taxes. The movement’s founder, Robert Paul Preston told CBS Sacramento that he wants to create New California partially because of the way California is taxed. Because of this, it’s safe to assume that the areas included in New California would be taxed at lower rates. 5. But it would lose a lot of income. Coastal areas, including Silicon Valley and Los Angeles, remain in old California under Preston’s proposal, meaning the new state would lose a lot of revenue from income tax. L.A. County alone generated almost a quarter of California’s tax revenue in 2013, and Silicon Valley (San Mateo and Santa Clara counties) generated 17 percent of state income tax revenue. 6. New California counties might lose recreational marijuana. California just legalized recreational pot on January 1st. It’s unclear what New California would do about recreational marijuana, but it’s entirely possible that the slightly more conservative state would reverse California’s legalization. I am thinking a lot of this is brought about by the utter disgust felt by the rest of the state when the liberal controlling elitists of the coastal region forced the Sanctuary State Law though the legislature and governor moonbeam signed it. If this strategy works it might also be followed in Illinois to rid themselves of Chicago and New York to divest themselves from NYC. Time will tell |

New California will not lose a lot of income, those big tech companies will move for lower taxes

This actually has a chance to happen. Its going to be fun to watch at least! We should see quite a few total liberal meltdowns over this.

A LOT of people in California want this. You'd be surprised.

That map pretty much follows the San Andreas fault. One of these days the two will separate whether anyone wants to or not.

That's an interesting hypothesis, Bret. It will be fun to see if anything happens.

If you look at a map showing counties/parishes across the country and how they voted during the last, miserable, election, most of the rural areas were blue (republican) while the metropolitan areas were red ( democratic). That even held true in this state... All just proves the divide between metropolitan and rural.

I do recall the prophecy of Edgar Cayce his psychic prediction that Callifornia would split and fall onto the ocean. Perhaps sometimes a psychic like him can misinterpret his vision and in fact it may have been a political split up . Weird too that the split in the middle of those two Californian microstates seem to have the split um aproximatly coinciding with the San Andreas fault line. Is this a coincidence or what?

So then in "old" California it will probably be mandated that a greeting isn't "hey dude" but "comrade".

None of this will matter much since the entire state will break off and float into the ocean when the "big one" hits in a little while.
