Hot-N-Spicy

The best way to fight off the chill of a cold and snowy day is with a big bowl of hot and spicy chili. JD wanted my home made chili from scratch so I brought up a jar of my tomatoes, opened it and dumped it into the kettle with some hamburger. I added about a cup of dry pinto beans and red kidneys. Here's where the trickery set in. The store wants $4 for two red sweet bell peppers which pisses me off to that for cooking.

Our Dollar Tree store has a 14 ounce package of Frozen Pepper Stir Fry for $1 !!! If the peppers are going to be cooked I will use that in place of the fresh peppers. The package contains a nice blend of red, yellow and green bell peppers and onions... just what I . I put it through the food processor with an additional small onion and I have the right amount of diced veggies. I add my spices and a half jar of water allowing the soup to set and simmer the whole day.

We both had 2 or 3 bowls of hot and spicy chili for supper last night.

But tonight was the real treat second day chili with hot dogs simmered into the mix for Coney dogs with Chili. I put the wienies into the soup last night to simmer in. Topped off with shredded Monterrey Jack Cheese is the ideal winter time treat.

You have the best and easiest spicy meal ideas of any body I know. I am salivating after reading this blog.

By the way, the snow you are getting on Friday is a weak Alberta Clipper that is forming over top of my place right now. We expect snow Wednesday night and Thursday.

oh thanks for sharing the weather with us. It's a basic winter weather recipe... but it is the convenient low priced peppers that needs sharing in here if you have a Dollar tree store handy.

I always have to have a big glass of cold milk with chili. I always fix cornbread with chili, they go together! And shredded cheddar sprinkled on top.

Husband tells me that I am a great cook and that makes me a great wife. There are other things that make me a great wife also.

We like cornbread with our chili too but had some homemade bread to go with that I forgot to add in there. I just kinda got stuck with the job at first I made way to much of the things we liked and we put on the pounds, then I started cooking way more sensibly and health conscious.

I have had tendencies to over cook also (way more than what we need) but I would save it after we had it 2 days in a row and freeze it. We always eat it later. We don't waste anything!

I cook spaghetti about 3 different ways and am very creative with casseroles. Navy bean soup I do well and fix cornbread or garlic bread to go with it. Chicken soup I cook with either rice or noodles, spaghetti noodles broken up in thirds make great noodles for chicken soup. Hot buttered biscuits with honey is a regular around our house with chicken soup. I try to always cook fresh and stay away from canned foods. I take pride in being a housewife for my Husband.

I try to go fresh as often as I can but I have my business that doesn't allow me to stay at home cooking. I have most business handled in the mornings with house chore delegated to afternoons but there are days that just get eaten up and that's where the carry out comes in handy.

Smart, economical move on the peppers. If Rep. King has to resign, I hope Gov. Reynolds appoints you to his seat. You'd make a good addition to help President Trump.

We are in his district, however, we supported the challenger in the primary race to unseat him. I really don't think he will resign, screw the media.

from the sounds of it we are to get nailed this weekend too. I did our shopping today just in case so the paycheck to paycheck crowd can do the Friday before the storm rampage without me. A big batch of beef stew also helps to keep you warm with some homemade bread to go with it.
